What we collect

Information you give us

When you fill out a form, email us or book a call, we receive what you provide. That can include:

  • Your name and business name
  • Your email address and phone number
  • Your business website
  • Anything you write in your message
  • The details you enter when you book a call

Information collected automatically

The site uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors use it. Google Analytics records things like the pages you view, how you arrived at the site (for example, from a search or a link), your approximate location at the city or region level, and your device and browser type. It uses cookies or similar technology to do this.

Our hosting and security tools also record technical information, such as IP addresses and browser types, to keep the site running and protect it from attacks.

How we use it

  • To reply to your inquiry
  • To schedule and hold calls you book
  • To provide services you purchase
  • To understand which pages are useful and improve the site
  • To keep the site secure

We won't add you to a marketing email list unless you ask to be added.

What we don't do

We don't sell or rent your personal information.

We don't share it with anyone for their own marketing or advertising.

Services that help run the site

A few outside services handle information on our behalf. Each one handles it under its own privacy policy.

  • Google Analytics: measures how the site is used
  • Google email and calendar: receive your messages and schedule calls you book
  • Google Fonts: loads the site's typefaces from Google's servers, which receive your IP address
  • SiteGround: hosts the website
  • Jetpack (Automattic): provides security and performance features

You can read how Google uses information from sites that use its services at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.

We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect our rights or the safety of others.

Cookies and your choices

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. You can also stop Google Analytics from collecting your visits with Google's Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

The site works the same either way.

How long we keep it

We keep messages and inquiry details for as long as we need them to respond and to keep reasonable business records. If you become a client, we keep project records for as long as the work and our tax and legal obligations require.

Google Analytics keeps detailed usage data for a limited period set in its data retention settings.

Your requests

You can ask us what personal information we have about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email scott@coolshadesmedia.com and we'll respond promptly. We may need to keep some records when the law requires it.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect the information you send us. No website or email system is completely secure, so please don't send passwords, payment card numbers or other sensitive details through a form or email.

Children

This site is for business owners. It isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.

Links to other sites

Some pages link to other websites, such as Google's help documentation. Those sites have their own privacy practices, and this policy doesn't cover them.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle information, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
